Siam Paragon Bangkok International Fashion Week celebrates Thai excellence
The spotlight was firmly set on Siam Paragon, Bangkok’s ‘global destination,’ as it hosted the prestigious Siam Paragon Bangkok International Fashion Week 2024 (BIFW2024). Thailand’s annual fashion showcase featured 15 shows from renowned Thai and Asian designers.
This year, the country’s fashion scene went next level with a special fashion talk – the WWD x Siam Piwat Global Fashion Spotlight, set to redefine Thailand’s fashion landscape and share insights into the biggest names in the fashion industry.
Siam Paragon Bangkok International Fashion Week: A 17-Year of Thai fashion excellence
Now in its 17th year, Siam Paragon Bangkok International Fashion Week has become a staple in Thailand’s cultural calendar, showcasing the latest collections from the country’s top designers while supporting the entire fashion value chain.
Siam Paragon, one of Bangkok’s most iconic shopping destinations, continued to lead the way. The venue not only hosted the latest Thai creative design on the runway, but it has also supported the fashion ecosystem, from event organisers and models to tailors, material producers and industry professionals.
This year’s edition was no different, featuring breathtaking collections and A-list celebrities.
A showcase of global Talent
This year’s event spanned from October 2 to October 6, featuring 15 shows that highlighted the creativity of designers from Thailand and beyond including South Korea and Hong Kong.
Featured were Absolute Siam x Dry Clean Only x AJOBYAJO, ASAVA, FLYNOW, 27FRIDAY, ISSUE presented by GC, KLOSET, Leisure Projects presented by CITIZEN, MOO Bangkok, NAGARA, PAINKILLER Atelier, POEM presented by MERZ AESTHETICS, TandT presented by TAT, and VICKTEERUT.
Additionally, the event spotlighted international talents and brands, including the legendary Korean designer LIE SANGBONG and Friends of SHANGHAI TANG Collection by the iconic Hong Kong fashion brand Shanghai Tang, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year in collaboration with renowned designer Joe Li.
The diversity of talent on display was a testament to Bangkok’s growing influence as a fashion capital.
A groundbreaking partnership
For the first time in Southeast Asia, Siam Piwat joined forces with WWD, a renowned authority in the fashion industry, to present the WWD x SIAM PIWAT Global Fashion Spotlight.
This exclusive fashion talk brought together media moguls, business icons, and fashion heavyweights. According to a WWD spokesperson, the aim was clear: to offer cutting-edge insights into the future of the fashion industry.
“The point of WWD being in Thailand and Bangkok is to strengthen our global reach. We are linking with partners who are making innovations within their local market.
“What’s fascinating about Siam Piwat is the melding of heritage with modernity and the craftsmanship with cutting-edge retail. A lot of American retailers and even global retailers could learn from this market.”
Industry leaders led by Amanda Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Fairchild Media Group and James Fallon, Editorial Director of WWD and Fairchild Media Group discussed Thailand’s rising influence in the international luxury sector. They also commented on the significance of Thai craftsmanship in a globalised market.

The Thai fashion industry is experiencing a moment of tremendous growth. Piaget South East Asia & Oceania Managing Director Emmanuelle Kouakoa Piaget shared that Thailand’s fashion industry presents huge opportunities.
“It’s booming and growing very fast. We chose a Thai ambassador to be our global ambassador [because] it’s showing the power of Thailand and the region globally.”
Amanda Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Fairchild Media Group highlighted the origins of Bangkok International Fashion Week.
“It actually came out of conversations we’ve been having with all the luxury brands globally. Everyone has been talking about how important the Thai consumer is.
“When we had the opportunity to work with them all, it was an incredible moment where we could create something new. We can talk about international luxury, local designers, craftsmanship and heritage, and build something new together.”
The event highlighted the immense potential of Thai talent in the region but also on a global scale.
