A tragic incident occurred in Phichit province when a man fatally shot his estranged wife before taking his own life in a murder-suicide. The event unfolded in a dormitory on Phichit Bypass Road today, February 10 at 12.30am. Police were alerted to a shooting involving fatalities and injuries.
Upon arrival, police found 22 year old Nutthaphon from Pa Makap subdistrict, Mueang district, Phichit province, shot three times in the head with a .38 calibre firearm, lying dead at the scene.
Nearby, 37 year old Preecha from Nong Phra subdistrict, Wang Sai Phun district, Phichit province, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the forehead. He was in a critical condition, lying face down.
The municipal rescue team transported him to Phichit Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A .38 calibre gun was found in Preecha’s hand, identifying him as the gunman. The investigation revealed that Preecha, also known as Sia Ball, was Nutthaphon’s husband. They had separated about a month prior.
According to 20 year old Pojjanart from Mueang district, Phichit province, she and two friends visited Nutthaphon around midnight. As they opened the door to leave, Preecha unexpectedly rushed into the room where Nutthaphon was present.
The witnesses heard three gunshots, followed by a fourth. Upon re-entering the room, they discovered both people lying in a pool of blood and immediately contacted the police, reported KhaoSod.
The motive for the shooting stemmed from Preecha’s unsuccessful attempts to reconcile with Nutthaphon, leading him to shoot her before turning the weapon on himself.
