Teenagers caught at drug-fuelled party in Chai Nat resort

Partygoers arrested as investigators trace sources behind teen drug supply network

More than 20 teenagers were apprehended during a drug-fuelled birthday party for a woman known as Jan at a resort in Mueang Chai Nat district. The raid, conducted yesterday, May 7, uncovered a variety of substances, including ecstasy, ketamine, love drug, and methamphetamine.

The police and district investigators from Mueang Chai Nat, in collaboration with the district administration, had been monitoring the activities of this group for some time. They frequently gathered for parties at different locations, consistently evading capture. Police acted on a tip-off about the group’s plan to celebrate Jan’s birthday, prompting immediate action.

Upon arrival, officials found the teenagers intoxicated, with loud music resonating in the room. Thick smoke filled the air, necessitating the opening of windows for ventilation.

Evidence was abundant, with discarded liquor bottles, beer cans, and various drug packets scattered around. Some of these packets were used, while others were hidden in plant pots within the premises.

Urine tests conducted on all party attendees revealed that over half were under the influence of drugs. Those involved have been taken into custody for legal proceedings.

The police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend additional people connected to the distribution and sale of these drugs, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, a recent police raid on an exclusive gay party in Bangkok’s Watthana district has ignited a heated debate about privacy rights and drug policy effectiveness.

The raid, which occurred on December 8 last year, revealed that over half of the 124 attendees tested positive for drugs, resulting in mandatory rehabilitation for those involved.

The event has sparked backlash from civil society organisations, who argue that media coverage violated the privacy of attendees by exposing their identities, thus reinforcing stigma against the LGBT community.

At the same time, drug policy reform advocates have raised concerns about the current national drug laws.
