Student dies in collision with luxury Maserati in Chon Buri

Two students were involved in a collision with a luxury Maserati car, resulting in one fatality and another in critical condition. The incident took place at 6.40pm, yesterday, October 8, near the Khao Chi Chan Forest Park on Rural Road Chon Buri 1003 in Najomtien, Sattahip district, Chon Buri province.

Police Lieutenant Thanakorn Suetrong, Deputy Inspector of Najomtien Police Station, received the report and promptly arrived at the scene with rescue units from Wat Yanasangwararam Hospital and the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation. The accident involved a black Yamaha NMAX motorcycle with registration number 2 กร Rayong 9140, which had collided with a black Maserati.

The injured were identified as two young men, both 17 years old. One of them, named A, sustained multiple abrasions, bleeding near the eye, and a deformed upper left leg. He was in a dazed state and was rushed to Wat Yanasangwararam Hospital for urgent medical care.

Tragically, the other student, named B, who was driving the motorcycle, was found dead at the scene.

The luxury Maserati, driven by an unidentified Russian national, suffered significant damage, including a shattered left fender, broken wheel rim, and cracked front windscreen. The car bore no licence plates and was found approximately 100 metres from the initial collision site. The driver, who withheld personal details from the media, waited to give a statement to the police.

Family members of the deceased arrived at the scene to confirm the identity of the victim. Naowarat Jaroonlert, the 59 year old grandmother of the deceased, was visibly heartbroken as she mourned the loss of her grandson. She mentioned that the young man had recently finished his classes and was on his way home to Ban Chang district, Rayong province before the accident occurred, reported KhaoSod.

Police officers documented the scene and took initial statements. The driver of the Maserati is expected to be questioned further to ascertain the cause of the accident. Police will also wait for the injured student’s condition to stabilise before obtaining his account of the events.
