Police bust motorcycle theft ring, arrest three suspects

Stolen bikes linked to cross-province network as crackdown exposes organised criminal operation

In the early hours of this morning, police apprehended a group involved in motorcycle theft and illegal sales across borders. The operation, led by Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, resulted in the arrest of three suspects with existing warrants.

Wuichai, also known as Kee, today, May 7, was captured on charges of night-time theft committed with an accomplice. The investigation was conducted by the 8th division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau in coordination with the Sam Sen district police. Kee was identified as having a history of drug offences.

Another suspect, Nutthaphon or Nook, faced similar charges. The investigative team extended efforts to track him down, resulting in his arrest and handover to Sam Sen police for further questioning. Nutthaphon also has a previous record of drug-related offences dating back to 2016, with incidents in the Tha Phra, Phetchakasem, and Bang Khun Thian districts.

The third suspect, Wanchana or Big, was arrested after being implicated in another theft on April 6, in the Bowon Mongkhon district. The Metropolitan Police Bureau’s 8th division pursued the group, known for stealing motorcycles by hotwiring and changing ignition locks. The stolen vehicles were reportedly sold to neighbouring countries.

Wanchana’s criminal history includes a drug-driving incident in 2018 in the Taling Chan district. Police believe that the trio used vehicles to facilitate their crimes, ensuring ease of escape and transportation of stolen goods.

As the investigation unfolds, police are gathering evidence to charge the suspects and further dismantle the theft operation. The ongoing inquiry aims to uncover the full extent of their activities and prevent future incidents.

In similar news, police in Samut Prakan have dismantled a motorcycle theft gang, recovering stolen vehicles and dismantled parts meant for resale. One victim, who had owned their bike for just four months, was devastated to find only the frame remaining.
