Myanmar woman killed, husband injured in Samut Prakan attack
A violent altercation in Samut Prakan resulted in the death of a Myanmar woman and severe injuries to her husband. The incident occurred yesterday, July 24, in Klong Dan, Bang Bo district, when a 29 year old man, reportedly intoxicated, attacked the couple, who had attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute.
Police Captain Phonchai Komkhuntod from Klong Dan Police Station responded to the distress call about the altercation involving Myanmar nationals. Upon arrival, police found a woman, identified as 51 year old Mimi Aye, lying dead in the street outside a single-storey rental room.
She had suffered multiple stab wounds, including a fatal injury to her heart. Despite efforts by rescue teams to perform CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband, 38 year old Zine Pan, was also severely injured in the attack and was rushed to Bang Bo Hospital for emergency treatment. According to neighbour Win, the perpetrator, 29 year old Ya Sa Kung, had been arguing loudly with his wife in room number nine. The noise prompted the couple in room number one, Mimi Aye and Zine Pan, to intervene and ask for a noise reduction, said Win.
“The assailant, clearly agitated by the request, left to gather his friends who were drinking outside. They returned to room number one and began to assault Zine Pan. When Mimi Aye attempted to stop them, she was fatally stabbed.”
Neighbour, 38 year old Sai, who resides opposite the assailant’s room, described the chaotic scene. He was eating when he heard the loud argument and the sound of a door being broken. Shortly after, he heard the victims ask the perpetrator to quiet down, followed by silence. Moments later, another neighbour alerted him to the ongoing assault.
Fatal stabbing
“I saw Mimi Aye lying in a pool of blood on the street, with Zine Pan sitting beside her. I immediately called the police and our local headman.”
The perpetrator lives with his wife and younger sister, who were not involved in the incident. The police are now gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Mimi Aye’s body has been sent to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for a detailed autopsy.
Police and rescue teams searched a nearby alley after receiving tips that the suspect had fled there. Despite a 30-minute search with the help of flashlights, the suspect was not found, and the dense mangrove forest behind the area complicated their efforts. For safety reasons, the search was temporarily halted, reported KhaoSod.
The homeowner of the searched property reported hearing footsteps on wooden planks but did not see anyone upon investigation.
