Man arrested after girlfriend’s suspicious death in Chon Buri hospital
A young man has been arrested after taking his dead girlfriend to a hospital, claiming she had slipped in the bathroom. Medical staff at the Laem Chabang Hospital in Chon Buri, however, found suspicious signs, including bruises on her body, face, and eyes.
They decided to lock the emergency room and notified the police. The man, Suwan Boonkhao, later confessed to assaulting his girlfriend, Rujira Mangso, by slapping her three times due to a row.
He stated that he had fallen asleep afterwards and found her unresponsive upon waking, leading him to take her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, journalists visited Pang Ma Kha subdistrict, Khanu Woralaksaburi district, Kamphaeng Phet province, the hometown of Rujira, where her family was preparing for her funeral. The atmosphere was one of deep sorrow, with relatives struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
Sawat, Rujira’s uncle, expressed his inability to forgive the act, insisting that the police pursue the case to the fullest extent. He mentioned that Suwan was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident, fuelled by jealousy and suspicion of infidelity. Sawat firmly stated that there is no need for Suwan to ask for forgiveness.
Sathit, Rujira’s younger brother, reported that he and his mother retrieved Rujira’s body from the police hospital, noting her face appeared swollen as if she had been severely beaten, contradicting Suwan’s claim of only three slaps. The autopsy results also conflicted with Suwan’s statements to the police, who had granted him bail.
Sathit is concerned that his sister will not receive justice and is determined that the case does not fade from attention. He shared that his sister frequently called to report arguments and physical abuse, which worsened after the new year, prompting her to distance herself, reported KhaoSod.
Before her death, the boyfriend had called their mother, refusing to let her speak to Rujira and claiming she was asleep, only for her to be later found dead. Sathit suspected his brother-in-law’s actions were driven by more than just a quarrel.
