Body of student linked to gambling debt found in Prachin Buri river

The body of an 18 year old vocational student connected to gambling debt has been discovered in a river in Prachin Buri province. Before his disappearance, the young man reportedly appeared in a dream to his mother, revealing his body was in the river.
At 11.30am yesterday, February 17, Police Lieutenant Pattheera Phetthongkliang was informed of a body found near a fish cage in Bang Boribun subdistrict, Mueang district, Prachin Buri province. The man was identified as Channarong “Mik” Iamla-or, an 18 year old third-year vocational student from a well-known college.
His body, clad in a white t-shirt and cream shorts, was found floating face up in the Prachin Buri River, having been in the water for approximately three days. The Sawang Bampen Thammasathan rescue unit recovered the body, towing it to a dock about 500 metres from the initial discovery site.
The dead teenage boy’s 18 year old cousin, Nut, recounted that Channarong had disappeared from his home in a housing estate around 1am on February 14. His girlfriend reported his absence, assuming he had gone to a friend’s house since he did not take his phone or motorcycle. Nut and Channarong studied at different institutions, with Nut attending business school.
Thanathip Rueyoo, a 22 year old relative, shared that Channarong appeared in a dream to his mother, Thanathip’s sister, on February 15, claiming his body was bloated and in the river.
Another family member, 42 year old Mongkol Saengarun, described Channarong as a quiet person who did not smoke and had been staying with his girlfriend in a housing estate while his mother lived in Rangsit.
Mongkol was unaware of Channarong’s involvement with gambling websites and mentioned that Channarong would visit his house to eat food left by his mother.
Previously, on February 15, rescue teams had searched for Channarong at the housing estate without success. Mongkol speculated about the circumstances of Channarong ‘s death, considering the possibility of an accident or misadventure.
He mentioned concerns about Channarong being abducted but rescue teams dispelled these fears, citing numerous security cameras in the area, reported KhaoSod.
Police have sent the body for a forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death before allowing the family to proceed with funeral arrangements.
