Police raid drug gang near Chanthaburi provincial hall

Police apprehended over 100 people connected to the drug gang operating in the Nern FM community, just 1 kilometre from the Chanthaburi provincial hall. Police launched a dawn raid, targeting the gang known for its blatant drug trafficking.

Yesterday, August 28, the Chanthaburi Provincial Police, in collaboration with the Chanthaburi City Police, special operations units, immigration officers, and administrative officials, executed a coordinated operation. The community of Nern FM, located in Soi Thesaban Phatthana 2, Wat Mai subdistrict, Mueang district, Chanthaburi province, was under scrutiny after numerous public reports about drug sales to adolescents. The gang’s activities were described as fearless and overt.

The raid led to the arrest of nine individuals and several items of evidence were seized. Among those apprehended were 26 year old Pathipan, 35 year old Santi, 35 year old Ogas, 22 year old Apisit, and 36 year old Piyanuch.

They faced charges of conspiring to distribute and possessing for distribution of category one narcotics, including methamphetamine, crystal meth, and Yaba pills, with the intent to sell, which has caused widespread dissemination among the public.

Sarawut, a 20 year old man, was also arrested. He was found in possession of six rounds of .45 calibre ammunition and faced charges of illegal possession of ammunition and using category one narcotics (methamphetamine).

Chokchai, a 28 year old man, was charged with using category one narcotics. Additionally, Wanmongkol and Wisanu were charged with conspiring to distribute and distribution of Category 1 narcotics.

The Nern FM community, located approximately 1 kilometre from the Chanthaburi provincial hall, has been a hotbed of drug activity for over a decade. Despite ongoing efforts by police to establish sustainable suppression measures, new dealers and users continually emerge.

Over the past 10 months, more than 100 people have been arrested for drug-related offences in the area. The police have also intercepted narcotics from other locations, which were traced back to the Nern FM community, reported KhaoSod.

The extensive investigation and collection of evidence led to the issuance of arrest warrants for 14 suspects by the Chanthaburi Provincial Court. To date, 10 of these suspects have been apprehended. The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Chanthaburi City Police for further legal proceedings.
