Unexpected love story: Malaysian woman marries boyfriend’s brother after tragic accident took fiancé’s life
A Malaysian woman’s life took a dramatic turn when her fiancé drowned a month before their wedding, leading his older brother to step in as the groom. This unusual tale unfolded into an unexpected love story.
According to the Malaysian media outlet Sinchew, a woman was preparing for her wedding day with her fiancé, but a month before the ceremony, her boyfriend tragically drowned. Consequently, his older brother replaced him as the groom in the wedding ceremony. The belief was that they would marry first and learn to love each other later.
Reports state that 24 year old Noor Marina, a kindergarten teacher, was scheduled to marry Salizwan, her 28 year old fiancé, on June 29 this year. However, fate intervened when Salizwan drowned on May 25.
After her fiancé’s death, Salizwan’s parents suggested that Noor Marina marry their other son, 32 year old Charon. Charon, still single among his siblings, bore a striking resemblance to his deceased younger brother in both appearance and stature.
Noor Marina and Charon were legally married on September 8. After their wedding, an unexpected turn of events unfolded when the two fell genuinely in love, said Noor Marina.
“My husband and I’s story can be described as fate. It’s a beautiful journey of love. Everything was prepared by God. It catches people off guard. It’s a fortune that we never expected to encounter.”
Striking resemblance
She revealed that Salizwan’s parents, now her in-laws, loved her dearly. She also expressed her gratitude for having known and loved her deceased fiancé, who frequently spoke of his love for her.
Noor Marina confessed to local media that she was as surprised as anyone. She only saw Charon’s face after her former fiancé’s death. Prior to that, she had only heard his name and never met him in person. When she did meet him, she was quite taken aback by the striking resemblance between the two brothers.
She believes that what happened was meant to be.
“Our marriage wasn’t to fill a void in our hearts; it was God’s will.”
She confirmed that she genuinely loves her current husband for who he is, without thinking about her deceased former fiancé’s face, reported Sanook.
“Even though we met because of my former fiancé’s death, I understand and accept the truth. I feel content and peaceful, and everything is fine. My deceased former fiancé is a memory, while the man next to me now is my husband.”
