A Thai man took to social media to reveal that a Thai woman faked a wedding with him and tricked her friends into attending the ceremony at a resort in the southern province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Netizens took to social media saying they were suspicious of both of them, the fake bride and groom.

The 34 year old Thai man, Jakkrit “Zen” Wongpanichkul, shared the unnerving experience on Facebook on Saturday, February 22. Zen posted screenshots of conversations between himself and friends of a Thai woman, Pim, who fabricated a relationship with him.

“This is a drama more dramatic than a Thai TV series. Today, I became a groom without even knowing it. I knew nothing about the wedding. She used my name and pictures to convince her friends that she was in a relationship with me.”

In the conversation, one of Pim’s friends messaged Zen to ask whether he had a wedding on Sunday. The friends all booked accommodation near the wedding venue, Villa Maroc Resort in Prachuap Khiri Khan, to attend the ceremony.

Zen expressed his shock upon learning of the situation and confirmed that he had no relationship with Pim. The friends responded by saying they had seen their friend post Zen’s pictures on her social media accounts and frequently talk about him.

The friends then shared pictures of Zen posted on Pim’s social media platforms. Zen explained that the pictures she posted had actually been taken by his ex-girlfriend.

Zen acknowledged that he had met Pim once before, when she invited him to invest in a business venture. However, he suspected her of being a scammer, so he chose not to proceed with the business and ceased contact with her.

Feeling sorry for Pim’s friends, Zen decided to meet them on Hua Hin Beach. He also wanted to discuss the matter further with them.

After speaking with Pim’s friends, Zen announced on Facebook that Pim contacted him to apologise but did not explain her reasons for orchestrating the fake wedding. Feeling sympathetic towards her, he chose not to take legal action.

Although Zen decided to drop the matter, Thai netizens raised numerous questions about the story. Some were suspicious of Zen’s alleged innocence in the fake wedding, adding he is currently in court fighting a murder charge in Hua Hin. They suggested that Zen and the woman had staged the wedding to extort money from those present.

Some questioned why Pim chose Zen as her fake groom, while others wondered why Zen decided not to pursue legal action, given the seriousness of the incident.

As of now, Pim has not disclosed her motive for staging the fake wedding. Zen maintained that he will not take legal steps against her and urged netizens not to criticise her, suggesting that she may be suffering from mental health issues or other serious personal problems.

Fortunately, no one lost money to Pim or Zen. Pim’s friends only lost money in booking accommodation and buying clothes for the ceremony.
