Two killed in Patong motorcycle crash near De Coze Hotel
A tragic road accident near De Coze Hotel in Patong claimed the lives of a foreign man and an unidentified woman yesterday evening. Patong Police are currently investigating the case.
The collision between a car and a motorcycle occurred on Phra Metta Rd, also known as Phang Muang Sai Kor Rd. Upon arriving at the scene, Lt Col Chayakorn Tangsakul of Patong Police confirmed the deaths of the male motorcycle rider and his female passenger.
The male victim has been identified as 30 years old Hamza Chokri Fikri, according to his Australian Class-C driving license. However, the police report also mentions the man holding a French passport. The second victim, an unidentified woman, remains a mystery. As of this morning, no updates have been received regarding her identity, nationality, age, or relationship to the deceased man.
The initial investigation suggests that Fikri was riding his Honda ADV motorcycle when he collided with a Suzuki Swift car driven by a Thai woman named Suphalak Buathong. The motorbike struck the car at the front. Images from the scene show no motorcycle helmets on either of the victims.
Suphalak has been taken to Patong Police Station for questioning. Authorities noted that she was in a state of shock upon their arrival at the accident scene. CCTV footage will be examined to determine the exact cause of the collision, reports The Phuket News.
In another story, a motorcyclist lost her life when she was hit by a drunk pickup truck driver. The driver also continued to hit another woman as well. The driver was a 57 year old man who stated that he had a blackout due to his health problems. The accident happened yesterday at around 9pm, near the entrance to Soi Krungthep Kreetha 45, thap Chang, Saphan Sung, Bangkok. The deceased motorcyclist was identified as Pattarasaya Uthongmak and the driver’s name was Somchai Cherdwongtrakul. Another injured female, Chularat Moosa, 23 years old, was hit and taken to Petchwet Hospital by rescue workers. For more information, click the LINK to read more.
