Phuket International Airport faced a brief power outage last night because of a power failure in the Provincial Electricity Authority’s (PEA) 115kV electricity distribution system.

The outage, which started at 6.25pm, yesterday, August 6, impacted the Thalang district area, including the airport, according to an announcement from the Airports of Thailand Phuket branch (AoT Phuket). The disruption was attributed to damage in PEA’s transmission system, which hindered their ability to distribute electricity.

During the outage, Phuket Airport’s backup generators ensured that essential systems within the passenger and office buildings remained operational, thereby preventing any major disruptions to important aviation services.

The PEA swiftly addressed the issue, restoring electricity to the airport by 6.40pm. Full normal electrical supply was resumed by 6.50pm, as confirmed by the statement.
