The inferno erupted in a housekeeping storage room on the fourth floor of the 79-room hotel. Thanks to the quick-thinking hotel staff armed with fire extinguishers, the blaze was barred from making its way beyond the initial point of chaos.

Firefighters from Karon Municipality and Patong Municipality roared in with six fire engines to ensure every last ember was outcold.

While the fire was quelled, an inspection revealed that 21 rooms on the second floor had not escaped unscathed, suffering the effects of smoke and heat, reported Phuket News.
