Wanted Chinese fraud suspect found hiding in Phuket
Immigration police in Phuket detained a Chinese fraud suspect yesterday, April 1, after the Chinese Embassy in Thailand asked Thai police to help locate, arrest and deport a man wanted in China who was believed to be hiding in the province.
Police said the suspect, identified as 32 year old Wang, was believed to have fled to Phuket. Investigators later located him at a condominium in Patong, Kathu district, and took him into custody.
According to Chinese officials, Wang is wanted in China on a contract fraud warrant issued by the Ministry of Public Security in Xinmin district, Shenyang, Liaoning province.

Shenyang police allege Wang offered billiard equipment for sale while claiming he had goods available. He reportedly used shipping videos and false information to convince more than 30 victims to sign contracts and transfer money.
After receiving payments, Wang allegedly failed to deliver the products, avoided the buyers and then cut off contact before fleeing China. Chinese officials said the alleged losses exceed 1 million yuan (approximately 4.7 million baht).
Checks from Thai immigration police found that Wang entered Thailand on a tourist visa and that his permitted stay had not yet expired.
Officials proposed revoking his permission to remain in the country because he is a foreign national wanted under an overseas arrest warrant.

Phuket Times reported that after approval was granted, officers tracked Wang to the Patong condominium. Police spotted a man matching his description outside the building, identified themselves as immigration officers and questioned him.
Wang confirmed his identity before officers took him to Phuket Immigration, informed him his stay had been revoked and detained him for deportation proceedings.
Elsewhere, Immigration Division 3 conducted a cross-province operation from Pattaya to Mae Rim to capture a Chinese man wanted for fraud. The suspect allegedly deceived fellow nationals into investing in a durian orchard project before fleeing the country.
