Na Jomtien officers have taken a bow after collaring a 40 year old Thai man accused of swiping a Russian tourist‘s valuables right from under his nose.
The brazen beachside bandit targeted 45 year old Mr A, a Russian visitor enjoying a refreshing dip near a resort in the sunny enclave of Na Jomtien, Sattahip, Chon Buri.
Mr A had left his possessions on a table, expecting the soothing waves to be his only concern. But, alas, when he returned, his Google Pixel 8 smartphone, driver’s licence, two credit cards, and hotel key card had vanished without a trace.
Swift justice was the order of the day as Na Jomtien police leapt into action, serving up a seaside sting operation that left no grain of sand unturned. Assisted by CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, police quickly zeroed in on the getaway vehicle, a white Isuzu D-Max pickup truck.
The suspected pilferer, known only as Thitiphan, was nabbed not far away in Huai Yai. In addition to the incriminating truck, officers uncovered a stash of methamphetamine and crystal meth, leaving the crook with quite the rap sheet.
Mr A was quick to shower praise on the local police officers. He popped into the police station to personally thank them for their speedy resolution, proclaiming the incident had bolstered his esteem for Thailand’s security measures and reassured tourists everywhere.

With charges of theft and possession of illegal drugs hanging over his head, Thitiphan faces a legal tide that may drown any future misadventures. Meanwhile, Mr A vows he’ll shore-ly be back, confident in the knowledge that Na Jomtien police are always ready to dive into action.
Thefts from foreigners in the Jomtien and Pattaya area are quite common these days. Only last month Pattaya police detained two transgender women in connection with thefts targeting tourists from India and Turkey.
Police Colonel Navin Theerawit, Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, announced the arrests at a press conference at 6pm on Thursday, January 23. The suspects were reportedly involved in two recent theft incidents.
