A Turkish man reported being robbed of 73,000 baht by a transgender person on Pattaya Central Road, marking the third such incident within the week.

The 52 year old Turkish national, Mustafa, filed a complaint at Pattaya Police Station yesterday, January 22 at 5.06am, stating he had been robbed of €500 and US$1,200 (approximately 73,000 baht). The incident transpired on Central Pattaya Road.

Mustafa recounted that while he was in front of a hotel, a transgender woman approached him on a motorcycle, engaging in friendly conversation and offering sexual services. Despite declining the offer, the transgender person embraced and touched him before swiftly departing on the motorcycle. It was only later that Mustafa discovered his wallet was missing, prompting him to report the theft to the local police.

Pattaya police are currently scrutinising CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspect. This incident follows two similar reports earlier in the week involving foreign tourists being robbed. In response to these occurrences, Pattaya police have repeatedly advised tourists to avoid wearing expensive jewellery in public and to remain cautious of overly friendly strangers, particularly those who engage in hugging or touching, reported The Pattaya News.

While serious crimes against tourists are relatively infrequent in Pattaya, incidents of petty crime, such as pickpocketing, are more common.

On January 14, a Turkish tourist was discovered bound and robbed in his Pattaya condo, sparking a major police investigation. Tethered with handcuffs and cable ties by a trio of brazen assailants, the Turk endured a terrifying ordeal. The robbers made off with a laptop and a hefty haul of cryptocurrency, vanishing into the night.

Security personnel, alarmed by the distressing scene, promptly alerted law enforcement. Despite the dramatic circumstances, the resilient tourist had somehow managed to alert the staff, shuffling from his fifth-floor room still bound but driven by desperation.
