Rescue volunteer shocked as foreigner trashes Pattaya booth
Volunteers gutted as defibrillator wrecked and glass door shattered in bizarre break-in

A shocked rescue volunteer in Pattaya is pleading for justice after a mystery foreigner allegedly smashed into his emergency booth, causing thousands of baht in damage, including wrecking a defibrillator.
Thawin Siangkong, who works unpaid for the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Unit, reported the late-night break-in to Pattaya police in the early hours of today, May 20.
Armed with CCTV footage and photos of the wreckage, he told officers that a stocky European man had forced his way into the Chaiyaphruek checkpoint booth on Sukhumvit Road while the team was out attending an accident.
The footage shows the suspect, described as a large-built white male of unknown nationality, prying open the sliding glass door and rifling through the booth’s contents before fleeing the scene. The raid left the glass door shattered and a defibrillator, used to restart hearts, severely damaged.
To make matters worse, Thawin says the same man returned to the area later but denied everything, despite the clear CCTV evidence.
“He wouldn’t admit it and just brushed it off. We’re just volunteers with no salary, sacrificing our time to help the community. If the suspect doesn’t compensate us, we’ll have to cover the repair costs ourselves. It’s disheartening.”
Thawin and his fellow volunteers hope Pattaya police will track down the suspect and ensure he pays for the damage caused, Pattaya News reported.

The incident comes hot on the heels of another foreigner-related scare in Pattaya, when a department store descended into chaos earlier this month.
On May 5, Pattaya City Police were scrambled to a South Pattaya shop after a tourist sparked a theft alert by acting erratically. Staff and customers feared he was stealing but officers quickly realised the man was having a mental health crisis, not a crime spree.
Witnesses said he was shouting and wandering aimlessly through the aisles. No items were taken, and police called in medics, who transferred the man to Pattaya Hospital for urgent psychiatric treatment.
