A 48 year old bottle collector in Pattaya was attacked with a knife by an unknown man who had previously asked to join him for a drink. The incident occurred yesterday at 10.30pm, May 24, and was reported to Sawang Boriboon rescuers. The rescuers found the injured man, Banyat Pholdee, with a deep wound in his back caused by a chopping knife.

Banyat was discovered alongside his sister in the middle of Soi Nongprue 3, located in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district. According to Banyat, he and his sister were attempting to reach a hospital for treatment, but he could no longer bear the pain and had to stop for medical assistance.

Regarding the circumstances of the attack, Banyat explained that he, his sister, and his brother-in-law had gone fishing at a canal in Soi Nongprue 3. After they finished, they were enjoying a few beers together when a tall, dark-skinned Thai man with a shaved head approached and asked to join them in drinking. The unknown man also offered to contribute money towards buying more alcohol.

When the initial supply of alcohol ran out, Banyat’s sister and brother-in-law left to buy more. During their absence, the unidentified man suddenly became agitated for unknown reasons and struck Banyat from behind with a chopping knife before fleeing the scene. The attack left a large gash on Banyat’s back.

Sawang Boriboon rescuers rushed Banyat to a local hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Pattaya Police are currently working to identify the suspect.
