A fruit vendor in Pattaya seeks urgent police intervention after experiencing two thefts at her shop.

Somporn Phetnak, a 39 year old fruit vendor operating in Naklua Soi 16, shared CCTV footage on Wednesday with local news outlets. The footage captures the moment a thief stole money from her shop.

Somporn explained that she has been selling fruit in Naklua Soi 16 for several years without issues. She operates her stall throughout the day and into the evening. However, last month, an individual stole a basket full of coins she had hidden away. Despite the incident being recorded on CCTV, the thief’s face was not visible.

“I have been selling fruit here for years and this is the first time such incidents have occurred.”

The same thief struck again yesterday, stealing only the basket of coins while leaving the fruit and other items untouched. Frustrated by the repeating incidents, Somporn decided to release the CCTV footage on social media, hoping it would aid in identifying the thief, reported Pattaya News.

“I just want the police to take action and catch the person responsible.”

Somporn urges local police to pursue the thief and ensure justice is served.

In other news, durian prices have surged in Nakhon Ratchasima, prompting vendors to adapt by selling the fruit in segments instead of whole, as local purchasing power dwindles and sales plummet more than 50%.

At the fruit sale zone within a local market in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima, durian sellers have shifted from selling the fruit by kilogrammes to selling it in segments, measured in pounds instead.
