Man attacked with gun handle in Pattaya, police hunt suspect

A 39 year old man was reportedly attacked by an armed man between 35 and 40 years old who pistol whipped him in Chon Buri. The incident occurred yesterday, March 31 at about 11am, resulting in the victim, Sunthorn Klonklang, requiring eight stitches for injuries to his left cheek and behind his ear.
The incident took place outside a restaurant in Soi Kor Phai, South Pattaya, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district. Sunthorn presented CCTV footage as evidence to assist in identifying the assailant.
He explained that he was dining with a female acquaintance when the attack happened. As he was leaving and mounting his motorcycle, a man approached him and assaulted him with his gun handle, causing him to fall.
The attacker then fled on a motorcycle. Sunthorn stated he was unaware of any reason for the attack as he generally avoided conflicts and did not have any known enemies.
Following medical treatment at a hospital, he filed a complaint with Pattaya City Police Station, urging the police to apprehend the perpetrator swiftly.
The restaurant’s CCTV captured clear images of the attacker, described as a stout man wearing a black shirt, shorts, and a black cap. He arrived on a red automatic motorcycle, drew a gun from his waist, and struck Sunthorn’s face. The attacker also slapped a woman who was greeting Sunthorn before fleeing on his motorcycle.
Pattaya City Police Station’s investigation team responded promptly, gathering evidence from the CCTV and interviewing witnesses. They have identified the suspect and are in the process of apprehending him.
The motive is suspected to be jealousy. The police are optimistic about making an arrest soon. Residents are asked to allow the police time to conduct their investigation effectively, reported KhaoSod.
