German and South Korean tourists involved in Pattaya motorbike accident
Two tourists, hailing from Germany and South Korea, were involved in an accident yesterday morning that took place on Pattaya’s Third Road, right outside the Mouth-se bar & restaurant. The incident, which transpired in the wee hours of the morning, also involved a Thai woman. The identities of the individuals were not immediately disclosed by the rescue team.
Both the German national and the Thai woman sustained serious injuries in the collision, while the South Korean man suffered moderate harm. Emergency responders from Sawang Boriboon were quick to arrive at the accident scene, providing immediate first aid to the injured trio before rushing them to the nearest hospital, reported The Pattaya News.
The incident, as revealed by a local CCTV recording, occurred when the South Korean tourist, riding a red Honda Wave motorbike with the Thai woman as his pillion, reportedly cut off the German tourist. The latter was travelling at high speed on a Yamaha X Max motorbike. The abrupt interference led to a collision, resulting in all three individuals being thrown onto the road and sustaining injuries.
The motorbikes involved in the accident were seized and are currently held at the Pattaya Police Station. In a statement, the Pattaya police announced that they would summon both parties involved in the accident for legal action as soon as they have recovered.
While accidents such as this are unfortunate, they serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic rules, especially for tourists who may not be familiar with local traffic conditions.
