A single red line tattoo has garnered over 3.3 million views on TikTok, bringing tears to many as they discover its profound meaning. The viral clip was posted by TikTok user @tommsarinee, known as Tom, who shared the story behind her first-ever tattoo.

Tom revealed that she had never contemplated getting a tattoo before. However, one day the idea struck her, leading her to contact a younger tattoo artist and send the design she wanted. The tattoo, a scratch mark, is a tribute to her pet cat named Mal, who passed away on September 28, reported Sanook.

Mal had been suffering from gallstones and had a cyst in the liver and gallbladder. This caused Mal to vomit every time he ate. Despite several treatments, the primary approach was symptomatic treatment due to Mal’s advanced age. Surgery was a risky option, so Tom decided to manage the symptoms. Towards the end, Tom had to feed Mal as he could no longer eat by himself. After a month of care, Mal succumbed to his ailments.

Throughout the 12 years spent with Mal, Tom always had scratch marks on her. However, when Mal passed away, she didn’t want the last scratch mark to fade away with him. This led to her decision to have it tattooed on her, even though she is usually not fond of tattoos. But she thought she wouldn’t get bored of this one, having lived with such marks for many years, reported Sanook.
