Young woman dies after jumping from moving vehicle in Ranong
A tragic incident occurred when a young woman jumped from a moving vehicle after an argument with her boyfriend, a police lance corporal. She suffered a fatal neck fracture. Before her death, she secretly shared her location to a friend who overheard the incident.
The incident took place today, January 15 at 1.30am, on the road near Khlong Hat Som Paen, behind the Mueang Ranong district office, Ranong province.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Narongsak Yachati of the Mueang Ranong Police Station received the report and proceeded to the scene with the investigation team, forensic experts from Ranong Hospital, and the provincial forensic unit.
The deceased, a 24 year old woman referred to as A, was found with facial injuries, a head wound, and abrasions on her arms and legs, barefoot.
Her boyfriend, 24 year old Police Lance Corporal Kittiphum, stood nearby the district office’s gate, waiting for police to investigate.
Approximately 30 metres away, an Isuzu pickup truck with Chumphon registration was parked in the middle of the road, the vehicle both the deceased and Kittiphum had been travelling in.
Initial investigations revealed that Kittiphum and A had been arguing over jealousy issues. Kittiphum took A to a nightclub before driving around to find food. During the drive, another argument ensued, leading A to open the rear passenger door and jump from the moving vehicle, resulting in her fatal injuries.
Police noted traces of blood on the gravel shoulder extending approximately 6 metres from where she fell. Footprints on the truck’s sidestep suggested she stood before jumping. It is believed she suffered a neck fracture from the impact of the ground.
A close friend of the dead woman, who rushed to the scene, revealed that A had called her, sharing her location periodically and letting her listen in on the conversation before the call abruptly ended.
A reportedly wanted to return to her accommodation to collect her belongings and end the relationship. The friend heard a loud thud but was unsure if it was A falling from the vehicle, reported KhaoSod.
The Mueang Ranong Police Station’s investigation unit is collecting evidence from both inside and outside the pickup truck, given the involvement of a police officer, to rule out any foul play or intentional harm.
The Ranong Rescue Foundation has been allowed to transport the body to Ranong Hospital’s forensic department for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.
