A banana tree‘s unusual sprouting of a bud through its trunk has sparked a local phenomenon in the Mae Sai community, Phayao province, as villagers believe it to be a sign of good fortune. Today, residents flocked to Samrit Sameuchue’s house to pay respects and seek their lucky numbers from the banana tree. The 51 year old man has seen his luck rise ever since the peculiar growth, with continuous jobs for his music band and consistent lottery wins.

The unique banana tree, a variety known as Kluai Nam Wa, has been under Samrit’s care for over a year, with regular fruiting. However, the sight of a bud curving into the trunk that day was a first.

This led to a wave of excitement among his friends, who brought offerings and rubbed flour onto the bud, revealing the distinct figures 719. Many took photographs with their phones, hoping to try their luck with these numbers in the upcoming lottery draw.

According to Samrit, the clear emergence of the number 719 on the bud’s surface led him and others to purchase lottery tickets with these numbers for the next draw. His past experiences with lottery wins and an upturn in his music and sound equipment business since the tree was planted have solidified his belief in the tree’s auspicious nature. He is sure that the local spirit, Mother Ta Nee, is blessing him and his household with good luck, reported KhaoSod.
