The Thailand Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a warning for today’s weather, predicting thunderstorms across 35 provinces, with Bangkok expected to experience heavy rainfall covering 60% of its area.

The southern region is anticipated to be hit hardest, with sudden flash floods posing a danger due to heavy rainfalls.

This weather pattern is due to a high-pressure system or cool air mass from China expanding to cover Vietnam and the South China Sea. It is expected to cover northeastern Thailand today. Meanwhile, an easterly wind is blowing across the eastern, lower central, and southern regions, coupled with a low-pressure trough covering Malaysia.

Such conditions trigger thunderstorms in the lower northeastern, eastern, lower central, and southern regions. Heavy rainfall is also expected in the south. The public in the southern region is urged to be cautious of dangers from heavy rainfall and be vigilant while travelling through areas with thunderstorms.
