Thunderstorms and strong winds to hit 50 Thai provinces

The Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather forecast, warning of continuous thunderstorms and strong winds in 50 provinces, including Bangkok, today, April 19. Residents are advised to exercise caution, particularly in the afternoon and evening.

In the next 24 hours, upper Thailand will experience generally hot weather, with extreme heat in some areas accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. The prevailing conditions are due to southerly and southwesterly winds covering the region. Residents in these areas are urged to be cautious of thunderstorms and strong winds, as well as to take care of their health due to the high temperatures.

In southern Thailand, thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in some areas, influenced by westerly and northwesterly winds over the Andaman Sea and the South. Residents are advised to be cautious of these conditions. The Andaman Sea is forecasted to have waves around 1 metre high, increasing to more than 2 metres in areas with thunderstorms. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea should avoid these stormy areas.

The current weather conditions have a minimal to moderate impact on the accumulation of dust and haze in upper Thailand, due to moderate winds and scattered rainfall in some areas.
