Three children in Buriram praised for returning lost gold necklace
Three children in Buriram province are being praised for their honesty after finding a gold necklace weighing 2 baht in front of a village shop and handing it over to the village head to locate its owner.
Yesterday, February 2, at 9.33am, 66 year old Suphon Khongsotsap visited the investigating officer to report that he lost a 2 baht gold necklace with a gold pendant at Thaworn village, Moo 2, Thaworn subdistrict, Chaloem Phra Kiat district, Buriram province, around 8.45am. The police recorded the incident.
Later, three boys, 13 year old Sitthichok Songsakun, also known as Kan, 11 year old Anuwat Thongthin, or Wayu, and 11 year old Atichat Somthieng, or Pim, found the necklace matching the description and handed it to Nimit, the village head of Moo 2, Thaworn. The children reported discovering the necklace on the road in the village.
Nimit then announced the search for the owner, which led to Suphon Khongsotsap, who had lost the necklace while attending a 100-day merit-making ceremony for his grandson in the village, to come forward.
After confirming the necklace as his, Suphon and the village head Nimit proceeded to Thaworn Police Station to document the return of the necklace, reported KhaoSod.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Surasak Saisingh, the investigating officer, confirmed the necklace belonged to Suphon and returned it in perfect condition. Suphon expressed his gratitude by rewarding the children with 3,000 baht (US$88) for their good deed in returning the necklace and helping find its rightful owner.
Last year, a nine year old student of Ban Khan Moo School in Phatthalung province, Thailand, returned a gold necklace with a sacred amulet worth hundreds of thousands of baht to its rightful owner after finding it in a market water gutter.
On September 23 last year, teachers, students, and parents of Ban Khan Moo School in Phatthalung gathered to commend Kris, a Primary 3 student, for his honesty and integrity.
