Thailand braces for cooler weather as cold front arrives
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather warning for today predicting cooler temperatures and strong winds due to a new wave of cold air from China. This front has reached northern Vietnam and is expected to cover upper northeastern Thailand today, February 3.
This weather pattern will initially result in a temperature drop and strong winds in the northeastern region, with the northern region expected to feel the effects the following day. The north and northeast will experience cool to cold weather, while the central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the east, and the south, will have cool mornings.
Mountain peaks will see cold to very cold conditions, urging residents to take care of their health due to the persistent cold and dry conditions that pose a fire risk.
The northeast monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region remains weak, resulting in approximately 1-metre-high waves in the Gulf.
Current weather conditions affecting dust accumulation are moderate to relatively high in upper Thailand, with stable levels due to moderate winds. The weather forecast from 6am today to 6am tomorrow for each region is as follows:
In the north, cool to cold weather with morning fog is expected, with temperatures ranging from 13 to 19 degrees Celsius, rising to 32 to 38 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. Mountain areas will experience very cold weather with temperatures between 5 and 13°C. Easterly winds will range from 5 to 15 kilometres per hour.
The northeast will be cool to cold in the morning with strong winds, and temperatures will drop by 1 to 2°C, ranging from 13 to 18°C at their lowest and 32 to 37°C at their highest. Mountain areas will be cool to cold, with temperatures from 9 to 15°C. Northeasterly winds will blow at 15 to 30 kilometres per hour.
