A thief snatched a gold necklace weighing 2 baht from a 65 year old shop owner in broad daylight at a market in the Phitsanulok province. The suspect fled on a motorcycle, prompting police to launch an urgent search for the thief.

The incident took place at the front of First Boutique, located at 109/103 Village 7, Bang Rakam subdistrict, Bang Rakam district. Witnesses, including vendors and residents, gathered at the scene where the shop owner, Praphawan Piyachoonwajee, visibly shaken, was waiting to provide her statement to the police.

Praphawan described the incident to the police, stating that she was alone in her shop when a man, around 40 years old, arrived on a black motorcycle, pretending to be a customer. He requested to look at a pair of shoes, claiming they were for his girlfriend. As she was packing the shoes, the man moved behind her and forcefully snatched the gold necklace from her neck.

She attempted to resist and called for help, causing a struggle that resulted in the thief taking a gold-encased Phra Phuttha Chinnarat amulet with an estimated value of over 10,000 baht, which fell off the necklace clasp. The thief then ran to his motorcycle and escaped quickly.

Locals who witnessed the event suggested the perpetrator was likely familiar with the area, as he seemed to know the escape routes well. A review of CCTV footage showed the suspect escaping on a black Honda Scoopy motorcycle, which had stickers covering the licence plate and letters. He was last seen heading down the community sawmill road, reported KhaoSod.

Praphawan sustained injuries during the struggle and was taken to Bang Rakam Hospital for examination. The police plan to conduct a detailed interview with her soon. Meanwhile, they are pursuing the perpetrator to bring him to justice swiftly.
