Thai transwoman caught on CCTV stealing from drunk man sleeping in car

Locals say serial thief targets intoxicated motorists in Ayutthaya province

CCTV footage outside an entertainment venue in Ayutthaya province captured a Thai transwoman stealing from an intoxicated man who had fallen asleep in his car. The suspect was reportedly well known among locals for her history of theft.

The theft victim, Sitti Wechadet, filed a complaint with the police on behalf of his older brother, who reported having his cash, a mobile phone, and a wristwatch stolen. The incident occurred in the car park of an entertainment venue in the Uthai district of Ayutthaya at around 4.30am on September 13.

Sitti also provided security camera footage as evidence. The video shows the transwoman, dressed entirely in black, carrying a chair to the victim’s white SUV, placing it by the driver’s door, climbing onto it, lowering the window, and reaching inside to steal the man’s belongings.

Sitti recognised the suspect from a previously circulated warning about her criminal behaviour. Locals noted that she often targeted motorists sleeping in their vehicles after drinking.

Police later tracked down and arrested the suspect at her dormitory, but she denied the allegations. The suspect reportedly has a theft conviction three years prior, and has additional evidence linking her involvement to several similar theft cases.

One of her previous victims pointed out to One 31 news agency that the transwoman would sometimes offer sexual favours if her victims awoke during the theft. On other occasions, she pretended to mistake the victims for an acquaintance.

Police have not yet confirmed what legal action will be taken against her in this latest case. Under Section 335(1) of the Thai Criminal Law, theft committed at night carries a penalty of one to five years’ imprisonment and a fine ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 baht.

Similar cases involving transgender suspects have been reported recently. In one case, an Indian man in Pattaya accused two Thai transwomen of spraying chemicals in his face, attacking him and stealing 7,000 baht in cash, a mobile phone and his room key.

Two weeks ago, another Indian man filed a complaint with police officers that a group of Thai transwomen stole his gold necklace, worth over 100,000 baht, while he was walking along Pattaya Beach.
