Khon Kaen school janitor accused of assaulting girls

The Sai Mai Must Survive Facebook page urged officials to maintain oversight on a case involving a school janitor accused of sexually assaulting schoolgirls, including a kindergartener, in Khon Kaen.

Parents of the victims reached out to the page, expressing concern that the case, which emerged approximately one month ago, might encounter delays or risk being shelved due to diminishing public attention.

Ekkapop Luengprasert, the webpage’s founder, who shares the family’s apprehensions, has been liaising with the Office of the Basic Education Commission, the Royal Thai Police, and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to keep the case in focus, according to reports.

The suspect, Si, a 55 year old school janitor, was apprehended in Khon Kaen on March 4, facing charges of sexually abusing girls under the age of 15.

He has denied the allegations of sexual abuse but confessed to using illegal drugs.

According to police, Si abused at least three primary school girls and a kindergartener at a school in Nam Phong district, where he was employed as a janitor and also drove a school shuttle bus.

Wiroj Khopai, director of the Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 4, reported that the office was informed of the incidents on February 27 by the school’s acting director, who received a tip-off from concerned parents.

The grandmother of the kindergartener reported that the child complained of genital pain during bathing and later revealed that the janitor had improperly touched her.

Seeking guidance, the grandmother approached the village headman, took the child for a medical examination, consulted a psychologist at Nam Phong Hospital, and subsequently filed a police complaint.

Classes at the school were suspended by Office 4 between February 28 and March 3.

The grandmother also alleges that her 12 year old granddaughter was similarly fondled by the janitor, reported Bangkok Post.

In similar news, a high school teacher in Phitsanulok was accused of sexually assaulting a 13 year old girl in the art classroom over several months. The girl’s parents reported the incident to Mueang Phitsanulok Police and subsequently informed DailyNews, urging the Ministry of Education to act promptly.
