Thai police intercept 400kg meth haul at Mukdahan City Hall
Thai narcotics suppression officers intercepted four dealers allegedly attempting to smuggle 400 kilogrammes of methamphetamine (meth) at Mukdahan City Hall. The operation took place at 8.05pm on Wednesday, July 31, with the illicit substances intended for transport to Central Thailand.
Officers revealed that intelligence indicated a group would deliver illegal drugs at the Mukdahan City Hall parking lot. Upon arrival, the suspects were identified as 34 year old Kriangsak, 24 year old Theerasak, 23 year old Chakkrit, and 19 year old Thanaphat.
During the inspection of their vehicle, police uncovered over 400 kilogrammes of meth concealed in multiple packages in the trunk. The suspects reportedly admitted to picking up the drugs in Wan Yai, Mukdahan, and arranging for another party to collect the packages at City Hall for delivery to Ang Thong.
The police have detained the suspects for further legal proceedings and are actively investigating to identify additional individuals involved in the smuggling operation.
“We had reliable intelligence about the delivery at City Hall. Our swift action prevented a significant quantity of methamphetamine from reaching Central Thailand.”
The discovery highlights ongoing efforts by Thai police to curb drug trafficking within the country. Meth, often referred to as Yaba in Thailand, remains a significant issue, with traffickers constantly seeking new methods to transport these substances, reported Pattaya News.
“The suspects confessed to their roles in the operation. We are now focused on dismantling the wider network involved.”
