Thai AirAsia offers 30% Songkran discount on direct bookings

Thai AirAsia is offering a 30% discount during the Songkran festival for direct bookings made from March 11 to 20.

The airline is supporting the Ministry of Transport’s policy by adding special flights during this peak travel period across five routes from Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nakhon Phanom, Udon Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani.

The discount applies only to direct bookings through www.airasia.com, the AirAsia MOVE app, and AirAsia ticket counters at airports nationwide.

Santisuk Klongchaiya, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia, stated that the Songkran festival is one of the peak travel periods of the year. The airline is collaborating with the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, and other relevant agencies to increase flight availability and set appropriate pricing.

Thai AirAsia has increased flights on popular routes during Songkran, with Don Mueang to Chiang Mai rising from 17 to 18 flights per day, and Don Mueang to Chiang Rai and Udon Thani increasing from five to six flights daily.

Routes from Don Mueang to Nakhon Phanom and Ubon Ratchathani have been raised from three to four flights per day.

Aside from offering discounted special flights during the Songkran festival, AirAsia is committed to providing passengers with the highest safety standards and punctual flights.

Santisuk expects the average domestic passenger load factor during Songkran to be between 90% and 95%, accommodating Thai and international tourists travelling throughout the region, reported KhaoSod.

Passengers planning to travel during the Songkran festival are advised to book in advance. Currently, there are still available seats at economical prices across all routes.

Reservations can be made directly with the airline through various channels, including www.airasia.com, the AirAsia MOVE app, and ticket counters at airports across the country.

In similar news, the Transport Ministry instructed the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) to address soaring airfares during peak holiday periods, particularly ahead of the Songkran festival in April.

Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit announced that CAAT must implement long-term strategies to regulate ticket prices, ensuring affordability while prioritising passenger benefits.

In response, CAAT plans to manage the anticipated surge in air travel during Songkran and urges travellers to book in advance to avoid inflated costs.

Suriya issued a similar directive before the Thai new year holidays, leading to additional seats being made available to help lower fares.
