Thai man throws girlfriend from Bangkok condo before jumping

A Thai man consumed by jealousy reportedly strangled his girlfriend until she lost consciousness before hurling her from the rooftop of a Bangkok condominium at the weekend, subsequently jumping off himself. Both are now in critical condition.
Social media influencer Guntouch “Gun” Pongpaiboonwet shared yesterday, March 11, that the girl’s 43 year old Thai mother urged him to help her 21 year old daughter, who was brutally assaulted by her boyfriend on Sunday, March 9. He promised to assist and accompanied the victim’s parents to Min Buri Police Station to follow up on the case.
The mother later revealed to the media that her daughter had been dating her boyfriend, whose name remains undisclosed, for about six months. She had never mentioned their relationship to her family, only becoming aware of it after the incident took place.
However, the mother insisted that the boyfriend’s parents were aware of the relationship. She expressed a desire for the man’s family to discuss the matter with her and issue an apology on behalf of their son.
The father gave a similar account, stating that he divorced his wife and that their daughter previously lived with him before moving out. However, she had never informed him that she was dating the attacker.

A friend of the victim told the parents that the brutal attack was motivated by jealousy. The boyfriend allegedly caught the victim having an affair with a tomboy about a month ago. In response, he summoned the tomboy to the condo room, attacked him until he lost consciousness, and then continued to assault his girlfriend.
CCTV footage from the hallway on the fourth floor showed the attacker carrying the unconscious victim to the rooftop on the fifth floor, where he pushed her off before jumping from the building himself.

The victim reportedly sustained a broken leg, broken ribs, and lung injuries, while her boyfriend’s condition was reported to be more severe. The condition of the tomboy victim was not mentioned in the report.
Police reported that they planned to issue an attempted murder charge against the attacker but would wait for his condition to improve first.
Attempted murder carries half the penalty of murder, which is the death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for 15 to 20 years.
