Pickup truck crashes into streetlight in Pattaya, driver injured

A pickup truck crashed into a streetlight in Pattaya early yesterday morning, leaving the driver seriously injured. The accident took place at 2.20am on Sukhumvit Road in the Banglamung district of Chon Buri province. Emergency responders and local news teams quickly arrived at the scene following reports of the incident.

Upon arrival, rescue workers discovered a white Nissan Navara pickup truck overturned in the median. The driver, an unidentified Thai man in his 40s or 50s, was found trapped and injured inside the vehicle. Rescuers promptly extricated him and transported him to Banglamung Hospital for treatment. According to the rescue workers, the driver appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the crash.

An eyewitness, 20 year old Chaiwat Thodphakdee recounted that he saw the pickup truck swerving and speeding before it collided with the streetlight. He also noted that the driver seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, reported Pattaya News.

Pattaya police are currently investigating the accident. They plan to conduct a blood alcohol test at the hospital to determine if the driver was indeed driving under the influence.

In related news, an emergency vehicle rushing a pregnant woman to the hospital ran a red light and collided with a pickup truck at an intersection before hitting another car, fortunately causing no severe injuries to the woman or her unborn child.

CCTV footage captured the moment the emergency rescue vehicle, belonging to Thachiengthong Municipality, sped through a red light at the Jak Kam Phimuk intersection on the new Mueang Nga-Tha Chak road in Ton Thong subdistrict, Mueang district, Lamphun.

In other news, a high-speed collision occurred on May 1 at 2am when a closed-box pickup truck crashed into the rear of a broken-down trailer truck on Phaholyothin Road in Pathum Thani province.

The driver of the pickup was seriously injured and trapped in the wreckage, necessitating urgent rescue efforts to save his life and transport him to the hospital.
