Pathum Thani to host food festival to boost tourism

Pathum Thani will host the Amazing Pathum Thani Food Festival, highlighting the region’s culinary creativity to boost tourism and stimulate the local economy. The event will take place from September 25 to 29, featuring unique food and cultural activities.

The press conference for the festival was held yesterday, September 18, at Tinidee Hotel Bangkok Golf Club in Pathum Thani. Pathum Thani Governor, Phasakorn Boonyalak, along with officials from the local culture and tourism departments, and the Dean of the Faculty of Home Economics Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Sakorn Cholasakorn, announced the details of the event.

Organised by the Pathum Thani Provincial Culture Office and the Pathum Thani Provincial Tourism and Sports Office, the festival aims to showcase the unique culinary identity of Pathum Thani. The initiative is part of a broader effort to promote gastronomy tourism, leveraging food as a cultural identifier and a significant draw for tourists.

The festival promises a variety of experiences designed to attract food enthusiasts and tourists alike. The unique flavours and distinctive culinary styles of Pathum Thani are set to offer visitors memorable and novel experiences. The event also aims to enhance the local economy by promoting the value and image of local foods.

A key highlight of the festival is the creative food competition, featuring two categories. The first category is for innovative dishes based on the traditional Lab Pla Tapian (a type of fish salad), while the second category focuses on fusion dishes using lotus. The competitions will take place from September 21 to 22 at the Faculty of Home Economics Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, with a total prize pool of 66,000 baht.

Local delicacies

The main event from September 25 to 29 will be held at Zpell@Future Park Rangsit, Pathum Thani. Over 100 food vendors will participate, offering a wide range of local dishes, beverages, and sweets. Visitors can enjoy cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs and winners of the food competitions.

The festival also includes cultural performances and musical acts by local artists and youth groups. These performances aim to narrate the stories behind Pathum Thani’s culinary traditions, adding a cultural depth to the gastronomic experience.
