A mother and her daughter were involved in a serious car accident after their Honda Jazz collided with a truck, causing their vehicle to veer off course and crash into a barrier. The incident, which led to their car overturning and blocking the road, occurred late yesterday evening.

Following the initial crash, a subsequent collision took place when a pickup truck, unable to brake in time, added to the chaos, leaving its driver trapped inside.

The accident unfolded at 11.15pm yesterday, December 12, on the outbound section of Ratchaphruek Road, intersecting with Rattanathibet Road in Bang Rak Noi, Mueang district, Nonthaburi.

Responding to the emergency, officers from Bang Si Mueang Police Station, along with the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found the overturned Honda Jazz with two injured occupants: 49 year old Boonyang and 19 year old Ariyada. The mother and daughter, trapped inside the car, were pinned down by the roof of their vehicle.

Rescue teams acted swiftly, utilising hydraulic equipment to extricate the trapped individuals. Once freed, the mother and daughter received initial medical attention before being transported to Phra Nang Klao Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the second vehicle involved, a Toyota pickup truck registered in Bangkok and loaded with coconuts, sustained significant damage to its front end.

Samrit, the driver of the pickup truck, shared his account of the incident. He had been transporting coconuts from Ban Phaeo district, Samut Sakhon, headed towards Talad Thai.

He recounted that a six-wheeled truck with an enclosed cargo box was ahead of them, with the Honda Jazz following closely behind in the middle lane. Somrit speculated that the driver of the Jazz might have fallen asleep or attempted to overtake without signalling.

Consequently, the left front of the Jazz collided with the right rear of the truck, causing it to lose control and crash into the concrete barrier before overturning on the road.

Somrit further explained that he was unable to stop in time, resulting in his pickup truck crashing into the overturned vehicle. The six-wheeled truck involved in the initial collision was not found at the scene, as it is believed to have left shortly after the accident.

Police have initiated an investigation, examining the site and recording Somrit’s statement. He confirmed that the Jazz had hit the back of the truck before overturning, reported KhaoSod.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the bridge to determine the exact cause of the accident. They are also waiting to interview the injured mother and daughter once they are in a condition to provide their accounts of the incident.
