Man found dead in Chai Nat storage room amid cold snap

A 67 year old man was found dead in a storage room near a village water tank in Chai Nat province, opposite Wat Lat Senabodi.
The man, identified as Somchai Bunruangsak, was discovered unclothed in a mosquito net surrounded by an array of medication, yesterday, February 24, with records indicating high blood pressure. Police suspect his death was due to underlying health conditions exacerbated by the cold weather.
Initial examinations revealed no signs of foul play, leading officials to conclude that Somchai likely succumbed to his existing health issues. His body was handed over to relatives for religious rites.
A local monk, Lek from Wat Lat Senabodi, noted that he regularly delivered food to Somchai but on this occasion found the meal untouched and spoilt. Concerned, the monk checked the storage room and discovered Somchai’s body.
The monk recounted that Somchai suffered from several ailments, including gout, high blood pressure, emphysema, and asthma, and had a habit of drinking alcohol despite his health.
Three to four days before his passing, Somchai had told the monk, “If I die, just cremate me right away, no need for any rituals,” which surprised the monk as it was the first time Somchai had spoken of death, reported KhaoSod.
Residents familiar with Somchai mentioned that he had requested to stay in the storage room to keep an eye on things, and although he drank, he never caused trouble for others.
In similar news, police are urgently seeking information after a man’s body was discovered bound and stuffed into a fertiliser sack, left by the roadside in a forested area. A local made the grim discovery, recalling a similar case involving a triple homicide two years ago.
On February 8, Police Lieutenant Somjai Suwannakit, an investigator from Bang Klam Police Station in Songkhla province, received a report of a male corpse found wrapped in a fertiliser sack.
