The driver, 37 year old Mr Pongthep (surname undisclosed), was a resident of Wang Thong district.

The incident took place on a detour road at the Indochine intersection in Tambon Wang Pikun, Wang Thong district. Passers-by who saw the vehicle crash off the road rushed to the rescue and managed to pull Pongthep out of his truck which had turned upside down and was almost fully submerged in the swamp. However, he died shortly afterward following prolonged immersion in water.

Relatives later told police that Pongthep drove the truck out of the house and then started live-streaming through his Facebook page as he was driving, showing how heavy the rain was.

Then, all of a sudden, the truck skidded off the road, overturned and ploughed into the roadside swamp.

It’s been a bad weekend of road incidents in the centre of the Kingdom, HERE and HERE.
