Major drug network busted 5.6 million meth pills seized
A significant drug patrolling operation, conducted in Pathum Thani’s Lat Lum Kaeo district, resulted in the apprehension of six individuals linked to a major drug network. The operation also led to the confiscation of 5.6 million methamphetamine pills and 200 kilogrammes of ketamine.
The individuals were arrested from a property within the Nattanun Home housing estate in Tambon Khu Kwang, stated acting national police chief, Police General Kitrat Panphet.
The arrestees, four males and two females were identified as 33 year old Kittithat Ketkaeo; 24 year old Kittisak Lordee; 33 year old Thaweesak Kaeosong; and 31 year old Pongsak Samlee; along with 35 year old Wilaiwan Kraiyarat; and 32 year old Chayapha Traikaeo.
The raid was carried out on Sunday evening and a box pickup truck, allegedly used for drug deliveries, was also impounded. This operation was the result of investigations following the arrest of supposed drug agents in the Thon Buri area of Bangkok and several drug dealers in the Ram Intra area earlier this month.
Prolonged probing indicated a vast network distributing illegal drugs to agents in the Central Plains region. The network members were storing the drugs in a house in the Nattanun Home housing estate in the Lat Lum Kaeo district. According to the police, the group used various vehicles for drug deliveries during the night.
Investigators were tipped off about a drug delivery scheduled for the house around 11pm on March 24. The police laid an ambush and subsequently arrested the six individuals, impounded the drugs discovered in the house, and a pickup truck.
The suspects confessed to the charges, as per the police, and disclosed that they received 200,000 baht (US$ 5,500) for each drug delivery they made. Pol. Gen. Kitrat revealed that the seized drugs were linked to Chao Nane, a prominent criminal network that smuggles drugs from the north to inner areas of the country via Kanchanaburi’s Phanom Thuan district.
Drug raid
The culprits had rented the house in the Lat Lum Kaeo district of Pathum Thani to store the drugs before transporting them to customers in Bangkok, Ayutthaya, and surrounding areas. According to the acting chief of police, all six individuals had previous arrests on drug charges. They were charged with colluding in the illegal possession of illicit drugs to sell and were held in police custody for legal actions, stated Pol. Gen. Kitrat, reported Bangkok Post.
Among those present at the media briefing were assistant national police chief Police General Samran Nuanma, Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner Police Lieutenant General Thiti Saengsawang, and other senior police officers.
