The lifeless body of an elephant was discovered in the waters in Huai Sat Yai, Hua Hin.

The dead elephant is believed to have succumbed to brutal injuries inflicted during a fierce clash.

Deputy Inspector Police Lieutenant Colonel Somphot Prayangam, stationed at Nong Plub Police Station in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, received a distress call from 51 year old palm plantation owner Sarawut Luangprabang on Sunday, February 18. Sarawut stumbled upon the carcass near his plantation in Ban Fa Prathan, Pa La-U, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement.

A dedicated team, led by Somjet Chantan, Director of the Conservation Area Administration Office 3 (Phetchaburi Branch), swiftly arrived at the scene. Among them were experts ranging from veterinarians to border patrol police, united in their mission to uncover the truth behind this tragic demise.

Just outside Kaeng Krachan National Park, they encountered the lifeless form of a mature male elephant, estimated to be between 20 to 25 years old and weighing approximately 2 tonnes. Tragically, the creature bore grievous wounds, including a deep gash on its abdomen and another beneath its left ear, indicative of a violent confrontation.

Initial findings suggest that the elephant met its untimely end following a brutal altercation with another member of its species. Disoriented and overwhelmed by infection, it ultimately found its resting place in the stream where it was discovered, reported Hua Hin Today.

In a solemn act of respect, officials laid the elephant to rest using heavy machinery, followed by meticulous disinfection and treatment of the area, ensuring adherence to scientific protocols.

In related news, a mother elephant from Surin province, led by its owners to beg along a road, became agitated, charging ahead and trampling her mahout, resulting in the woman’s death in a pool of blood. Upon receiving the report, local police officers from Kao Liew Police Station were promptly dispatched to investigate the scene, along with emergency medical personnel and rescue teams.
