Heavy rains forecast in Bangkok and 41 provinces
Monsoon trough and strong winds bringing 70% chance of downpours

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather forecast warning for today, September 15, where heavy rains are expected in 41 provinces, including Bangkok and its metropolitan areas, with a 70% chance of downpours.

The eastern, central, northeastern, and southern regions of Thailand are likely to experience heavy rainfall due to a monsoon trough extending across the central and upper southern regions, reaching a low-pressure area on the coast of southern Vietnam.
Additionally, a southeasterly wind is affecting the lower northeastern, eastern, and upper Gulf of Thailand regions, while a moderate southwesterly monsoon continues over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Regional updates
The northern region will see thunderstorms in 40% of the area, primarily in Mae Hong Son, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun. Temperatures will range from 22 to 25 degrees Celsius (°C), with highs of 31 to 34°C. Variable winds will blow at 5 to 15 kilometres per hour (km/h).
In the northeastern region, 60% of the area will have thunderstorms with heavy rains in some parts, especially in Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Roi Et, Buri Ram, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Surin. Temperatures will range from 22 to 24°C, with highs of 30 to 34°C. Easterly winds will prevail at 10 to 15 km/h.
For the central region, expect thunderstorms in 70% of the area with some heavy rains, especially in Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, and Samut Songkhram. Temperatures will range from 25 to 26°C, with highs of 32 to 34°C. Variable winds will blow at 10 to 15 km/h.
The eastern region will have thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with some heavy rains in Nakhon Nayok, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Temperatures will range from 24 to 25°C, with highs of 29 to 33°C. Variable winds will blow at 15 to 30 km/h, with waves around 1 metre high and exceeding 2 metres during thunderstorms.
The southern region (eastern coast) will experience thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with heavy to very heavy rains in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Temperatures will range from 23 to 25°C, with highs of 31 to 34°C. Southwesterly winds will prevail at 15 to 30 km/h, with waves around 1 metre high, exceeding 2 metres during thunderstorms.
The southern region (western coast) will have thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with heavy rains in Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. Temperatures will range from 23 to 24°C, with highs of 30 to 33°C. Winds will vary, with speeds of 15 to 35 km/h from Phuket upwards and 15 to 30 km/h from Krabi downwards. Waves will be 1 to 2 metres high, exceeding 2 metres during thunderstorms.
Bangkok and its vicinity will see thunderstorms in 70% of the area with some heavy rains. Temperatures will range from 25 to 26°C, with highs of 32 to 33°C. Variable winds will blow at 10 to 15 km/h.
