Fire at Samut Sakhon recycling factory triggers urgent evacuation
A fierce fire at a recycling factory in Samut Sakhon has raged for over three hours, prompting urgent evacuation of nearby residents. The fire, which started at 2am today, September 6, continues to spread and has already caused significant damage to the facility.
Firefighters are battling a large blaze at a recycling factory in Moo 6, Bang Ya Phraek subdistrict, Mueang district, Samut Sakhon province. The fire has engulfed over half of the factory premises, and efforts to control it have been ongoing for more than three hours without success.
The initial fire broke out in the early hours of today. Upon inspection, it was found that the flames had spread to warehouse locks two and three, reported KahoSod.
Warehouse lock two contained plastic pellets, while lock three, situated further inside, housed a large number of tyres. The intensity of the fire and the nature of the materials stored in these areas have exacerbated the situation, making it difficult for firefighters to contain the blaze.
In related news, a fire broke out at a furniture manufacturing company’s warehouse, spreading to seven adjacent warehouses. The incident, occurring on July 24, is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit as workers had left for the day.
Police Lieutenant Thassana Udomporn from Lam Luk Ka Police Station received a report about the fire at a rental warehouse in Moo 12, Bueng Kham Phroi subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka district, Pathum Thani province. Upon receiving the alert, he informed his superiors and rushed to the scene with Deputy Superintendent Prakot Nakyai and over 20 fire engines.
The fire started in warehouse B41, owned by a furniture manufacturing company, and rapidly spread to four warehouses on the left and three on the right, engulfing a total of seven warehouses.
The full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed. Initial efforts by the fire department succeeded in containing the blaze within a limited area.
