Bangkok man arrested for raping 11 year old girl while drunk

In a disturbing incident, a 23 year old Bangkok man has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11 year old girl. The suspect lured the girl under the pretence of taking her to see her brother, who was fishing nearby, before sexually assaulting her. He later claimed that he was drunk during the incident.

Yesterday, August 26, at 11am, Police Major General Prasong Anamanee, along with other senior officers from the Metropolitan Police Division 9, ordered the arrest of the suspect, Watchara, also known as Top, based on a warrant issued on August 23. He was apprehended in front of a house in Soi CP, Bang Khae district, Bangkok.

The charges against Watchara include raping a child under 13 years old, taking a child under 15 for lewd purposes, and removing a child under 15 from their guardians for indecent reasons. The arrest followed a complaint filed by the victim’s mother on July 22 around 9pm. She reported that her daughter referred to as Miss A, had been raped by Watchara, who lived in the same area on Phetkasem Road, Bang Khae.

According to the mother, Watchara, who was around 20 years old at the time, coaxed her daughter by saying he would take her to see her brother, who was fishing nearby. Instead, he assaulted the girl, punching her in the stomach three times before raping her.

The girl suffered from stomach pains following the assault. The police investigation led to the discovery that Watchara had fled to a relative’s house in the same neighbourhood, where he was eventually arrested.

The suspect eventually confessed to the crime.

“I was drunk and made her take off her clothes before molesting her.”

One of the officers involved in the case remarked that we are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that the victim receives all the necessary support and care.

During the interrogation, Watchara confessed to the crime, stating that he was drunk on the day of the incident. He admitted to forcing Miss A to undress and molesting her. Watchara, who previously worked as a security guard, has a criminal history, having been prosecuted for trespassing in 2020.

The police have since sent Miss A for a medical examination to confirm the assault and legal proceedings against Watchara are underway, reported Khaosod.
