Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, the DITP’s Director-General, underscored the significance of the industry to Thailand’s economy, highlighting its 9.61% export growth in 2023, which brought in over US$8.8 billion (around 302 billion baht). The momentum continued into the first half of 2024, with exports reaching US$4.6 billion, an 8.48% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

“Bangkok Gems is the largest gem and jewellery trade fair in Thailand, the oldest in Asia, and ranks among the top four globally. It’s a critical event that draws buyers from across the world, fostering business connections and solidifying Thailand’s status as a global gem and jewellery hub.”

In recent years, Bangkok Gems has experienced remarkable growth, with a 34% rise in exhibitors, a 17% increase in booths, a 40% surge in visitors, and a staggering 102% jump in trade value. The event’s global appeal continues to soar, with the upcoming edition expected to draw over 1,100 companies displaying their finest wares across nearly 2,500 booths, and attracting 35,000 attendees from around the globe.

Sumed Prasongpongchai, GIT’s Director-General, echoed this enthusiasm, noting the fair’s popularity among exhibitors and visitors alike. The event also offers SMEs a golden opportunity to network with global business leaders, expand their horizons, and forge valuable collaborations.

Notable highlights include a New Faces zone for budding entrepreneurs, educational seminars, and a networking reception, alongside expert-led sessions on penetrating the lucrative Middle Eastern market, reported The Nation.
