15 year old British-Thai girl rescued after years of rape by mother’s lover
The Be One organisation rescued a 15 year old half-Thai, half-British girl in the Isaan province of Udon Thani, after her Thai mother’s lover had raped her for four years since she was 11.
Be One’s founder, Chalida “Ton Or” Palamart, accompanied the 15 year old British-Thai girl and her 41 year old aunt to file a complaint against the girl’s mother and her lover at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station on Friday, January 10.
The young victim decided to seek help from her aunt after her 71 year old British father died on January 4. The Englishman had been bedridden for a long time and was unable to help his daughter, even though the sexual assault was committed in their home.
According to the aunt, the girl revealed that her mother’s lover, 60 year old Ong, initially failed in his first attempt to rape her. She then told her mother, 38 year old Nat, but her response shocked her. Her mother said she already knew about the assault because she had planned it.
Subsequently, Nat asked Ong to take the girl to a hotel, where he raped her. She told her mother about her ordeal, but her mother told her to continue having sex with Ong and to ask him for between 1,000 and 1,500 baht. She then had to give this money to her mother. The latest sexual assault occurred in December last year.
According to the girl, her British father was initially unaware of Nat’s secret relationship, but he eventually discovered it after Nat had a child, now two years old, with Ong.
Mother denies accusation
The father had placed all his assets in Nat’s name. This allowed her to pawn their home and sell their car to fund her gambling. Nat’s relatives added that she also spent money on drugs.
The aunt told the organisation and the police that she and other relatives did not know about the girl’s sexual abuse. They only knew that Nat was in a relationship with Ong.
The aunt added that Nat had once borrowed money from her and other relatives, claiming her foreign husband needed it for treatment. They subsequently stopped lending Nat money after realising she had begun a relationship with Ong.
Nat and Ong were summoned to the police station for questioning. Only Ong admitted to the crime. The victim’s mother continued to deny the accusations but the girl presented their online conversations as evidence.
Thai media outlet managed to capture the moment when the girl’s aunt slapped Nat in the face in anger. They then argued, and police officers intervened in the altercation.
Ong was charged under Section 277 of the Criminal Law: sexually assaulting a minor under 15 years old. The penalty is imprisonment of up to 20 years, a fine of between 10,000 and 400,000 baht, or both.
The girl’s mother faces imprisonment of up to four years and a fine of up to 400,000 baht for human trafficking under Section 52 of the Suppression and Prevention of Human Trafficking Act.
