A British man has been arrested in Chon Buri province following allegations of sexual assault against a minor after police received crucial information from international partners. A shocking discovery by the child’s mother on her mobile phone led to the 30 year old alleged pedophile’s arrest.

The arrest of Luke Adam Lawrence, the British national, took place after a warrant was issued by the Criminal Court on Monday, December 2. He was apprehended at a condominium in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri.

The charges against him include rape and sexual assault of a child under 13, a crime for which consent is irrelevant. The legal proceedings are being handled by the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) under the direction of Saruti Kwangsopa.

Before the arrest, the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom had been investigating Lawrence, from Leeds, West Yorkshire, for crimes related to child sexual exploitation. The investigation revealed disturbing evidence on his mobile phone, including video footage believed to depict the sexual abuse of a Thai child residing in Thailand. This prompted the NCA to collaborate with Thai police to track down Lawrence.

Through meticulous examination of the video evidence and social media platforms, Thai officials identified the victim in the footage as a young girl, aged seven, known under the pseudonym Nong A. At the time of the incident, she was six years old.

The victim is the daughter of Bee, a pseudonym for the mother, who had been in a relationship with Luke for over two years. Upon seeing the video, Bee was understandably shocked and immediately filed a police report.

Lawrence, however, has denied all charges. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the investigators of the ATPD for further legal proceedings.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) in Thailand has issued a warning to Thai women engaged in online relationships with foreign nationals to remain vigilant about pedophilia. This is a psychological disorder where individuals have a sexual interest in prepubescent children. Awareness and preventative measures are crucial in safeguarding against individuals exhibiting such behaviour.

The investigation continues as police work to gather more evidence and build a strong case against Luke. The aim is not only to bring justice to the young victim and her family but also to prevent future occurrences of such abhorrent crimes, reported KhaoSod.
