Humble garland vendor in central Thailand wins 12 million baht
Flower seller’s calm reaction to windfall wins hearts nationwide

A garland vendor from Prachin Buri won the top lottery prize but surprised locals by continuing her work at a roadside stall the very next day.
The winner, a 55 year old woman named Kinaree, discovered she held two first-prize tickets with the winning number 876978, announced in the Government Lottery Office’s October 1 draw. The two-digit number for the same draw was 77.
Kinaree, who regularly sells garlands at a traffic intersection in Khok Phib subdistrict, Si Mahosot district, had quietly purchased her lucky tickets as part of her usual routine. Upon realising she had won the top prize, she promptly visited Si Mahosot Police Station to formally record her win, a common practice in Thailand to protect lottery claims.

Despite her life-changing windfall, Kinaree made headlines not just for the win but for her unshaken composure. Images shared online showed her sitting at her usual spot, stringing garlands with the same quiet dedication, preparing for the next day’s work.
“I just wanted to make sure it was properly recorded,” she reportedly said after filing her claim, before calmly heading home to rest.
Witnesses said she appeared “completely unfazed” by the fact that she had just become 12 million baht richer, reported KhaoSod.
Social media users were quick to praise her humility and work ethic. Many called her a “true example” of grace and simplicity, with hundreds of comments congratulating her while also admiring her decision to continue working.
While many lottery winners rush to the bank or make headlines with celebratory shopping sprees, Kinaree’s calm and grounded response has resonated with netizens across the country.
Her story adds to the growing list of ordinary Thais who have struck it lucky through the lottery, many of whom still choose to hold on to their everyday lives.
In another recent win, a worker in Ayutthaya became an overnight millionaire after taking the top prize in Thailand’s national lottery. The fortunate individual, originally from Wang Nam Khiao and currently living in Ayutthaya, held two first-prize tickets, securing a total windfall of 12 million baht.
