Paetongtarn denies Cabinet reshuffle amid coalition speculation

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra dismissed speculation regarding a potential Cabinet reshuffle, asserting that the government remains cohesive and unchanged. Addressing concerns about coalition tensions and calls to alter economic portfolios, she confirmed no intentions to reorganise.
“Everything remains the same, and I’m aware of opinion polls and open to all views. Also, everything is impermanent, even the position of the prime minister. We all should remain calm.”
Questions arose about the possibility of replacing coalition partner Bhumjaithai with the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP). She remained firm, indicating no reshuffle would occur, even as a NIDA Poll survey suggested public anticipation for changes in the commerce and agriculture ministries.
The prime minister acknowledged that Pheu Thai formed a coalition with pro-military parties, contradicting its earlier pledge.
The 38 year old premier noted that Pheu Thai did not secure the necessary majority and mentioned the timing of the question, given their partnership formed nearly two years ago.

The Thai PM expressed satisfaction with coalition unity, noting that all partners had endeavoured to implement government policies despite some challenges. She also mentioned differing opinions with her father, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, but affirmed they were not in conflict.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai stated no signals of a Cabinet reshuffle from the prime minister, attributing such talks to external sources. He acknowledged differing views between Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai but emphasised they could be resolved, and as long as each party remained committed to agreed principles, the government would continue.
Klatham Party leader Narumon Pinyosinwat, currently the agriculture and cooperatives minister, echoed Phumtham’s remarks, attributing reshuffle speculation to media and analysts rather than the prime minister. She affirmed satisfaction with the party’s Cabinet allocation and denied lobbying for the interior minister position held by Bhumjaithai, reported Bangkok Post.
PPRP secretary-general Paiboon Nititawan dismissed rumours regarding rejoining the coalition government.
